Best film locations in Valencia, Spain
If you are looking for locations for your next production, Valencia is an excellent place to start searching. From ‘El Cid’ (1961) by Anthony Mann to ‘La mala educación’ and ‘Game of Thrones’, many national and international directors have been interested in the Valencian Community as their film set.
Because of the variety of locations it has: from natural and urban landscapes that maintain the spirit the rural past, to its futuristic architecture. As well Valencia counts with some special characteristic Mediterranean light, the Valencian Community has been chosen as the setting for numerous films. For example, the Valencian director Luis García Berlanga shot the film ‘Todos a la cárcel’ (1993), winner of 3 Goya awards, in the former model prison of Valencia.
Here are some of our favourite locations:
Albufera Natural Park
This location, 10 km south of Valencia, is one of the most representative coastal wetlands of the Mediterranean basin. Films such as ‘Cañas y Barro’ have been shot in this Natural Park and, currently, Álex Pina and Esther Martínez, creators of ‘La casa de papel’, are shooting ‘El embarcadero’.
